For years now, Quentin Tarantino has been very vocal about only making 10 movies in total.

The director counts Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 as one film and his last movie, 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was his ninth.

The director had been gearing up to shoot his 10th and final film, The Movie Critic later this year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the spin-off film was going to be set in 1977 California, eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The focus would have been on a real-life film critic who wrote movie reviews for a porno magazine and would have seen Brad Pitt reprising Cliff Booth from the previous film.

However, in recent weeks, Tarantino has cancelled the film entirely and gone back to the drawing board.

According to Deadline’s sources: “He simply changed his mind… Word is that Tarantino had rewritten his script, which delayed the start of production. But this is his 10th and final film, and Tarantino simply decided The Movie Critic will not be it.

Of course, the filmmaker did previously shelve his eighth movie The Hateful Eight, before eventually returning to the project, so who knows.
