A woman allegedly killed by her teenage son died of a blunt force head injury, an inquest has heard.

The body of 45-year-old Angela Shellis, from Prestatyn, was found on a footpath near the town’s Morfa nature reserve on 24 October.

Tristan Thomas Roberts, her 18-year-old son, was arrested the same day and charged with her murder. A trial is set for March next year.

The inquest was opened by Ruthin John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, on Monday.

Mr Roberts, who lived with his mother in Coniston Drive, Prestatyn, did not enter a plea at Mold Crown Court hearing last month, and he was remanded in custody.

Ms Shellis, who was born in Tywyn, was a teaching assistant at Rhyl High School.

At the inquest Mr Gittins said provisional cause of death by a blunt force head trauma had been given by Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Ms Shellis’ family said in a statement she was a “loved daughter, sister, mum and aunty and will be sadly missed”.
