Premiership Women’s Rugby: PWR leaders Harlequins beat Trailfinders 46-39 to stay top

Leaders Harlequins secured a ninth consecutive Premiership Women’s Rugby victory with a thrilling 46-39 win at Trailfinders.

With a comfortable 31-17 lead at half-time, Harlequins found themselves under pressure in the second half, with tries from Abi Burton, Vicky Laflin and Kate Zackary putting Trailfinders 39-36 ahead.

With just over 10 minutes remaining, however, the visitors hit back through Carys Phillips and Kayleigh Powell’s second try of the game to seal five points.

The win puts Harlequins seven points clear of second-placed Exeter Chiefs, who have two games in hand, while Trailfinders remain sixth.

In Saturday’s other fixture, eighth-placed Leicester Tigers picked up their first home league win of the season by defeating bottom side Sale Sharks 38-17.

Leicester were cruising 31-0 at the break, before Sale got themselves on the scoreboard with three second-half tries.
