An estimated £6m worth of fake goods, including designer trainers, tech products, perfumes and contraband cigarettes, have been seized by police and trading standards officers.
Rochdale Neighbourhood Policing Team found the merchandise after a tip-off that an organised crime gang from Cheetham Hill in Manchester had extended its criminal activities to another site in Rochdale, Greater Manchester Police said.
The visit was part of a targeted operation, which tackles organised crime in the Castleton area of the town.
The counterfeit goods were found in seven units and two men have been arrested.
Due to the scale of the boxed goods, they had to be secured overnight and officers and trading standards returned on Friday with a lorry.
Two men, aged 70 and 29, were held on suspicion of possession and control of counterfeit goods and bailed pending further enquiries.
Insp Anthony Taylor said: “We made a visit to an industrial unit following intelligence we had received about organised criminality and counterfeit goods.
“Officers from our neighbourhood policing team, alongside partners from trading standards, discovered various high-end counterfeit goods to the estimated value of £6m.
“We take any intelligence submitted by the public seriously and act upon it according.”
He urged anyone with concerns about organised criminals to get in touch.
