Police search for van driver after man struck and killed

A man has been killed after a van driver is believed to have deliberately struck him before fleeing the scene, police have said.

The pedestrian was struck in a “serious assault” on Broadway in Chadderton, Oldham, shortly after 18:30 GMT, Greater Manchester Police said.

“A van collided with a male pedestrian, who sadly died at the scene,” a statement from the force said.

“Officers are making enquiries to locate the offender. A scene remains in place alongside several road closures in the area.”
