Police say Ronalds Abele, 17, died after River Nene accident

A 17-year-old boy has died after being rescued from the River Nene.

Northamptonshire Police said Ronalds Abele got into difficulty in the water at the Embankment in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, on Friday afternoon.

He was airlifted to Northampton General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The police have described his death as a “tragic incident”.
