Police ramp up search for missing Glasgow busker Lewis Cuthbert

Police have ramped up an “extensive” search for a busker who has been missing for nearly a month.

Lewis Cuthbert, 25, was last seen at about 16:00 on Monday 4 August in the Lesmahagow Road area of Strathaven.

Mr Cuthbert is known to busk in Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres and is described as 5ft 10in tall, of slim build and with short brown hair.

He is believed to have been wearing a brown cord jacket with a sheepskin collar and carrying a backpack with a Bluetooth speaker and microphone when he was last seen.

Officers have spoken to over 400 people and stopped over 300 cars as part of their efforts to trace him.

Police have also trawled CCTV footage and conducted door-to-door inquiries.

Local officers are being supported by national resources, including specialist search teams, drones from the air support unit, as well as officers searching on quad bikes.

Ch Insp Paul Doyle, local area commander, said: “We have significant resources dedicated to finding Lewis and we are urging the public to come forward with any information about his whereabouts.

“Door-to-door inquiries are still being carried out and there will continue to be a significant police presence in the area while our searches are ongoing.

“We understand this may be concerning for the local community but please be assured we are working hard to find Lewis.”
