Police probe ‘unexplained’ death of man on cycle path

The body was found on a cycle path in North Lanarkshire

Police are investigating the “unexplained” death of a 51-year-old man whose body was found on a cycle path in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to a report of an unresponsive man near Centre Park Drive and Coatbank Street in Coatbridge at 07:30.

Police Scotland said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and “extensive inquiries” were ongoing into the incident.

A spokesperson added: “Officers remain in the area and anyone with any concerns or information can approach them.”

Police said the man’s family was being supported and a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
