A man whose death in North Lanarkshire sparked a murder investigation has been named by police.

Kevin Samuel Bowman, 30, died following a disturbance on Hamilton Drive, in Airdrie, at about 00:15 on 18 September.

A second man, 27, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Police Scotland said the murder investigation into the death of Mr Bowman was ongoing.

The force opened a major incident portal – where members of the public can submit information to assist the investigation – following the death.

Det Ch Insp Bob Williamson, of the Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with Kevin’s family and friends, and we are continuing to provide them with support as our extensive inquiries continue.

“We’d like to thank the local community for their assistance with our investigation so far. We urge anyone with information, who hasn’t spoken to police, to please come forward.

“Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be vital.”
