Police launch attempted murder probe after man found in Paisley

Detectives are treating an attack on a man who was found unresponsive on a street as attempted murder.

Police said the 40-year-old was discovered on George Street, Paisley, at about 23:55 on Friday.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where staff describe his condition as serious.

A force spokesperson confirmed a 31-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Det Insp Gordon Smith said: “Inquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with any information which may assist with the investigation to get in touch.

“We would also like to speak to those who assisted officers in locating the injured man. If you have not spoken to officers yet, please contact us.”

He also urged anyone with relevant doorbell cameras, private CCTV or a dashcam footage to get in touch, external.
