Plans for new Glasgow University campus include nursery and hotels

If approved by Glasgow City councillors it will be the fourth generation of multi-use buildings in the university’s history.

The University of Glasgow, which was founded in 1451, is the second-oldest in Scotland after St Andrews.

It currently has a student roll of more than 38,000 across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

In its design statement, external, Ironside Farrar said: “The Keystone building represents an opportunity for the university to create a building that is not only unique, but fulfils an urgent requirement for high-quality learning, teaching and research space.

“The academic success of this building will be in creating a vibrant and inspirational place to attract and retain the world’s most talented staff and students to study and work.”
