Pitlochry Town Hall to be sold to community for £1

Pitlochry Town Hall will be sold to the local community for £1 after councillors approved the move.

The sale follows a consultation that saw 96% of respondents back the Pitlochry Town Hall charity’s community asset transfer request.

The charity’s chairman Duncan Tannahill described the move as a “hugely significant milestone” in its journey towards securing the future of the 126-year-old building.

The charity has run the venue since July 2025 as part of an agreement with Perth and Kinross Council.

The aim of the takeover was to see the public building open more often for visitors and locals, following the loss of the Pitlochry Tourist Information Centre in 2024.

The two-storey town hall officially opened in April 1900 on a site gifted by Captain Archibald Edward Butter of Faskally.

The construction was funded by public subscription and gifts.
