A 69-year-old man has survived a microlight aircraft crash in the Scottish Borders.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called out to the Lempitlaw Farm Airfield near Kelso at about 21:45 on Wednesday.

The aircraft was on its side at the small, private grass airfield with the man trapped inside.

He was the only person in the aircraft and the SFRS said he was conscious and breathing with leg injuries. Rescuers freed the man’s leg after removing fibreglass panels, and air ambulances were on scene.
