Philips’ motion-tracking smart toothbrush uses AI to make you a better brusher

The Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 joins a growing list of devices with built-in displays that have functioned just fine for decades without. The toothbrush’s touchscreen can be used to select from eight different cleaning modes and three intensity levels, including gentle options for sensitive teeth or gums. The screen also displays a “12-segment mouth map” representing sections of teeth in your mouth that changes color to indicate when the motion-detecting toothbrush thinks you’ve brushed effectively, or where a redo is recommended.

In addition to the screen, the Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 features a glowing, color-changing light ring on the base that works alongside a third-generation AI model and Philips’ “SenseIQ” technology to let you know if you’re pressing too hard during a cleaning. But the 9900 can also help you there by adjusting its own vibration intensity based on your technique to ensure you’re brushing your teeth safely and effectively.
