Penarth Esplanade flooded as Storm Claudia hits Wales

Storm Claudia has caused flooding and travel disruption across parts of Wales.

Heavy rain caused the Esplanade in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, to flood, forcing businesses such as Chef G’s to close.

Its owner Gareth Lee said the restaurant had about 40 people booked in before the road flooded, and described the situation as a “big loss” for his business.

He added the fire service was called to remove a car stuck in the floodwater.

Danger to life warnings are in force, with Natural Resources Wales imposing four severe flood warnings.
