Paul Hutchison: Jersey director of cricket resigns

Jersey’s director of cricket and men’s head coach Paul Hutchison has resigned.

The 48-year-old former Yorkshire, Sussex and Middlesex player took on the role in February 2024.

In that time he led the island to its most famous victory – a T20 World Cup qualifying win over Scotland this summer – where they narrowly missed out on making the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The men’s side are also top of their ICC Challenge League pool – the first round of qualifying for the next Cricket World Cup.

Jersey’s Cricket Board says Hutchison has decided to return to the UK for family reasons.

“On behalf of the board and all at Jersey Cricket I would like to thank Paul for his contribution to Jersey Cricket over the past 18 months,” Jersey Cricket board chairman John Harris said in a statement.

“He has brought some new ideas and supported the development of our cricket across our men and women’s teams with commendable results and progress.

“We understand and respect the reasons for his departure, and wish him well for the future.”

The island’s cricket authorities say they will use the winter break to “consider the role and ensure the right structures are in place ahead of the commitments in 2026”.
