Patients evacuated after ‘chemical incident’

Around 150 people have been evacuated from the basement and ground floor of Guy’s Hospital in central London after reports of a chemical incident, London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said.

The brigade said it sent two fire engines, two fire rescue units, a command unit and specialist hazardous materials officers to the incident.

LFB said its crews are “carrying out operations to ventilate the building”.

The cause of the incident is unknown at this point, and parts of St Thomas’ Street behind London Bridge railway station are closed to traffic.
