Paralympics 2024: Tully Kearney claims second Paris gold after S5 100m freestyle success

Britain’s Tully Kearney won her second gold medal of the Paris Paralympics after successfully retaining the S5 100m freestyle title.

The 27-year-old, who won 200m freestyle gold on Thursday, had qualified fastest for the final, and finished in one minute 15.10 seconds.

Kearney was challenged over the first 50m by Ukraine’s Iryna Poida, but put in a strong turn and pulled clear over the second length to win by 2.27 seconds.

“In a way it was easier than last night but I found it more difficult because I really wanted to retain my title,” she said.

More to follow.
