A dog owner has been arrested after a dog-on-dog attack that left a small dog badly injured, police have said.
Giles Lewis said Yuki, a Pomeranian-Japanese Spitz cross, spent two weeks in intensive care after being attacked while being walked on a residential street in Newport.
Gwent Police said a 46-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control.
The force said she was in custody, being questioned on Thursday.
