Organisers hail ‘largest dinosaur race for 63 million years’

More than 500 runners wearing inflatable Tyrannosaurus rex costumes battled blustery conditions to take part in a fun run for a Manx learning disability charity.

Organised by Expedition Limitless, participants walked, jogged or ran the 1.5-mile (2.5km) course on Douglas Promenade on Saturday.

About £12,000 was raised for Manx Mencap, taking the total raised for the charity by the team who recently kayaked hundreds of miles on a Canadian river in aid of the organisation to more than £120,000.

Team leader Martyn Malone said the spectacle and turnout had been “absolutely incredible”. The event was “an unofficial world record for the largest T. rex race in 63 million years”.
