Orcas were “deliberately disturbed” by a speedboat off the Moray coast, police have said.

The speedboat was described as having crossed the path of the pod off Findochty at about 18:55 on Friday 6 June.

Police said the manoeuvre disturbed the course of the whales.

Police Scotland, appealing for information, said: “It is great to see these animals around the Moray coast, however it is an offence to intentionally or recklessly harass or disturb a dolphin, whale, porpoise or basking shark.”
