Optimum Plans to Double Multigigabit Availability by 2028

Optimum, a midsize cable and fiber internet provider, announced plans this morning to double its multigigabit footprint by 2028. The expansion includes a 2,000-megabits-per-second tier for its cable internet users.

“Optimum is committed to empowering residents and businesses with the fast, reliable internet services they need to thrive in a digital-first world,” said Nate Edwards, executive vice president of Network Services at Optimum, in a statement.

Optimum currently is available to over 9 million residential and business users across 21 states, three million of which have access to Optimum’s 100% fiber-optic internet network.

Currently, 30% of Optimum’s network features multigigabit speeds. Optimum plans to increase that availability to 65% in the next three years.

Select counties in Texas, Tennessee, Connecticut and Louisiana are currently eligible for multigigabit speeds. Optimum is more broadly available throughout New Jersey and New York.
