“This was the third time this year I’ve managed to capture the lights in the Oswestry area, having also caught them over Ellesmere a couple of weeks back.”
Mr Wilson said the light show was strongest at around midnight, going into the early hours of Monday morning.
“I took a couple of test shots in my back garden with my iPhone and a quick check of the [aurora alerts] app confirmed they were going to potentially get strong later so I headed out,” he told the BBC.
“I really would love to head to Iceland one day and see them by eye.
“But it is truly amazing even to capture them by long exposure, virtually on the doorstep in Shropshire.”
