“All the flooring is ruined, however we still had our electricity so we were very fortunate in that sense,” she said.
North Yorkshire Council said in a statement the assistance centre would be open every day this week between 09:00 and 17:00 GMT and was being staffed by people who could give a range of advice for those whose homes have been affected.
“For people affected by loss of power in the Kirkbymoorside area, ‘winter warmer’ packs are available from the Moorside Road support centre, and the packs include items such as a power bank, torches, blankets and hot water bottles,” the statement added.
