A judge has fixed another review hearing in 10 days’ time in the sex abuse case involving the former Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife Lady Eleanor Donaldson.
It will take place on 20 October and determine whether their joint trial can proceed as planned on 3 November at Newry Crown Court.
Sir Jeffrey, 62, is accused of 18 offences, including one count of rape. Lady Donaldson, 59, faces five charges relating to aiding and abetting.
They deny all the offences, which were allegedly committed between 1985 and 2008.
Their trial was to have taken place in March, but was postponed until next month due to Lady Donaldson’s ill health.
On Friday, Newry Crown Court was told she has more medical appointments scheduled next week.
The prosecution is also waiting to be provided with her GP notes and records.
Adjourning the case until 20 October, judge Paul Ramsey said: “Hopefully we will be in a better position as to the medical situation and whether we can proceed.”
Neither of the accused attended Friday’s short hearing.
