Netball World Cup: Wales aim to bounce back from poor Commonwealth Games

Carter, who is part of Manchester Thunder’s NXT Gen squad says it “means everything” to be back in the Wales team.

“It’s such a privilege to put the red dress on and to represent your country and not many get to do it,” she said.

“Not getting to Commies was a big blow and I think the girls did amazingly, but I really knew that I wanted to fight to be re-selected.

“I’m excited to prove to myself and to others that I deserve to be in the team and I wasn’t going to take it lightly and just sit back.

“I came back fighting, kicking and screaming to get in the squad and prove that I should be there.”

The resounding message from the camp is that target of three wins from three.

Despite their dip in form Wales are still the highest of the four sides in qualifying, with Scotland at their heels in 10th.

“We have a point to prove for sure,” said Rowe.

“The World Cup qualifiers is a huge opportunity for us to just reset ourselves.

“We’ve got to have a 60-minute performance three times in these qualifiers so that’s absolutely our aim.

“Until that happens, we’re going to continue to be super hard on each other.

“It’s absolutely now or never, we’re qualifying for that World Cup.”
