Gloucester’s former New Zealand prop Nepo Laulala has been banned for a minimum of two matches for a dangerous tackle.

The 34-year-old was cited after video reviews showed he had made contact on Bristol prop Scott Kirk’s head with his shoulder.

Laulala was not sanctioned during the game for the incident during the Prem Rugby Cup match on 19 September at Kingsholm.

Having watched the footage an independent panel deemed the incident was worthy of a red card and imposed a three-game ban, which can be reduced by a game of Laulala successfully completes the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme.

He will miss the Prem Rugby game against Harlequins on 29 November and the European Champions Cup fixture with Castres the following weekend.

Should he not complete his intervention work he will also miss the trip to Munster on 13 December.
