‘My house was destroyed after gas pipe explosion’

A corroded gas pipe led to a house explosion in South Ayrshire in October 2021, destroying houses and cars.

Marie McDowall was one of the residents who lost her house when it had to be pulled down due to damage.

She told BBC Scotland’s Katie Hunter that she had lost her hearing in one ear and now uses hearing aids.

The rebuilding of her house has been delayed and she has been living in rented accommodation since the blast.

Ms McDowell said it would be a “dream” to return to her home when it’s restored.
