Dechreuodd Morfydd Llwyn Owen astudio’r piano pan oedd yn 16 oed a chyfansoddi gyda David Evans.
Aeth i Ysgol Ganolradd Pontypridd cyn mynd ymlaen i astudio ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd, gan ennill ysgoloriaeth gerddorol Caradog a graddio mewn cerddoriaeth yn 1912. Symudodd i Lundain i astudio dan Frederick Corder yn yr Academi Frenhinol gan ennill Ysgoloriaeth Goring Thomas.
Daeth Morfydd yn adnabyddus yn y byd celfyddydol yn Llundain, ac roedd ei chylch bohemaidd o ffrindiau yno’n cynnwys y llenorion D. H. Lawrence ac Ezra Pound, ac ambell berson o dramor fel y Tywysog Felix Yusupov o Rwsia, a chwaraeodd ran flaenllaw yn llofruddiaeth Rasputin.
Priododd Morfydd y seiciatrydd Ernest Jones – bywgraffydd swyddogol a chyfaill Sigmund Freud – ar 6 Chwefror, 1917.
Ond 18 mis yn ddiweddarach fe ddatblygodd Morfydd lid y pendics acíwt, ac yn dilyn llawdriniaeth yng nghartref teulu ei gwr yn Abertawe bu hi farw.
