Police said the young man died in hospital shortly after the incident

A murder investigation has begun after a man in his 20s died in hospital following a stabbing.

Police were called to Humberstone Road in Luton at about 18:00 BST on Sunday to reports of an altercation involving two men and a woman.

Supt Rachael Glendenning from Bedfordshire Police said: “This is an isolated incident and we would ask the public not to speculate at this time.”

She added officers would remain at the scene for a “significant period” while an investigation was carried out.

Police said the man’s family was being supported by specialist officers and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
