An area in Mountnorris has been cordoned off around a number of houses

An area has been cordoned off around a number of houses in County Armagh following the death of a man, BBC News NI understands.

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and forensic officers are attending the scene at a residential property in Mountnorris, a village about six miles south of Markethill.

TUV councillor Keith Ratcliffe said there “appears to have been a domestic fallout involving men in their 40s, one of whom has tragically died”.

“An individual has been arrested in connection with this incident and police have established a cordon in the village,” he added.

DUP councillor Gareth Wilson described the incident as “deeply concerning”.

“I understand that one man is, very tragically, dead. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time,” he said.

Wilson has appealed for anyone who may have witnessed “anything suspicious” in the Cusher Green area of Mountnorris to assist the PSNI with their inquiries.

BBC News NI have contacted the PSNI for information.
