Motorcyclist dies after crash with car and van in Aberdeenshire

The crash happened shortly after 14:00 on Tuesday

A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a car and a van in Aberdeenshire.

The 35-year-old man was taken to hospital following the collision on the A980 near Banchory shortly after 14:00 on Tuesday, but he later died.

The occupants of the car, a Seat Ibiza, and the Citroen Berlingo van were not injured.

The road was closed for eight hours as collision investigators examined the scene. It reopened at about 22:00.

Sgt Alexander Bowser-Riley said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and our inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.”
