“There have been bids recently,” Askou told Sky Sports prior to his side’s league opener with Rangers on Saturday. “That’s something the board is working with.

“It’s going on in the background and it will probably intensify in the coming days. Who knows how long it’s going to take.

“There’s been a lot of speculation, rumours and interest for a long time. It’s intensifying now.

“Obviously there’s a high probability he will move this summer, but nothing is finalised yet. Concrete things are going on, which we expected.

“For now he’s a Motherwell player and he’s doing his best to get back to full training so we can maybe see him on the pitch again.”
