Monmouthshire: Man dies in Portskewitt house fire

An investigation is under way into the death of a man at a house fire in Monmouthshire.

Emergency services were called to a property on Main Road, Portskewitt, at about 10.05 BST on Sunday.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Gwent Police attended, while Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that a man in his 70s had died and his family had been informed.

While the road has since reopened, a cordon remains at the address and inquiries to determine the cause of the blaze continue.
