The year-long miners’ strike of 1984-85 was the biggest industrial dispute in post-war Britain.
Thousands of miners were locked in a bitter dispute with Margaret Thatcher’s government, which supported plans to shut coal pits across the country.
Miner Bob Young played a key role in organising strike action in Fife during the dispute. Four decades on, he believes the impact of the mine closures is still being felt.
