Kent bowler Mikey Cohen has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.

The 27-year-old joined Kent ahead of the 2024 season but did not make his first-team debut until August last year because of a long-standing back injury.

The South African-born player, who qualifies as homegrown through residency, has taken nine wickets in nine appearances across all formats for the club.

He has averaged 47.42 in List A cricket and has a first-class average of 143.00.

“It’s a privilege to play for Kent and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent this great club in the coming summer,” he said.

“I’ve loved the opportunity to work closely with club legend Darren Stevens, alongside bowling lead Sam Faulkner, and I’m very excited about what’s to come this year.”

Cohen began his career playing in South Africa for Western Province and Cape Cobras before moving to Derbyshire in 2020.

Across his career, he has averaged 29.47 in first-class, 49.20 in List A and 32.11 in T20 cricket.
