Two men have been charged after a car fire outside the prison in Peterhead.

The incident – involving a Citroen C3 Cactus – happened in the car park of HMP Grampian, in the Aberdeenshire town’s South Road, at about 01:15 on 2 September.

Police Scotland said two men, aged 29 and 34, had now been arrested and charged. They are expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

There were no reports of injuries at the time, and the fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
