A 54-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a lorry in County Armagh on Wednesday.

Aileen Mary Finch, who was from the Markethill area, was pronounced dead in hospital on Friday.

Police said the crash happened on the Gosford Road just after 10:20 GMT on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the pedestrian was later taken to hospital for treatment.

Markethill Primary School, where Ms Finch worked, said “she will be remembered with love and affection”.

“She entered school, always with a smile and a cheery hello. Nothing was ever a bother to Aileen, who willingly put her hand to whatever she was asked to do,” the school posted on social media.

Ch Insp Simpson, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, said enquiries into the crash are continuing.

“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit.”
