Marc Warren returns to main tour after three-year absence

“I had to make a birdie. There was no playing safe at that stage for me. I knew we had to make three on 18. That meant three good shots were required and that’s what we got.

“To see it drop in was great and to see the smiles on the faces of family and friends makes it all worthwhile.

“We kind of said yesterday that there might be a point where you have to put the foot down a little bit.”

Sale’s four-stroke win means the 29-year-old steps up to the main tour for the first time, while Brown held on to second place to secure the season-long title.

The 27-year-old Brown, who qualified for the main tour for the first time in 2024, was born in Aalborg, with father Marcus having moved from Perthshire to Denmark to become a club professional in 1985.

Brown said: “It means a lot. It gives me a lot of confidence.

“I had a tough year last year on the DP World Tour, but I wasn’t too far away, I thought, and it’s just moments throughout a season that needs to go your way and I’m not I’m not scared of it for next year.

“I’m quite looking forward to it because I know what it what it is now.

“It’s been a proper grind again today. Ultimately, I couldn’t win today thanks to a good Frenchman, who played extremely well.”
