Man told he had months to live ‘still standing’ 14 years later

Adrian Webb thought he might never see his 50th birthday, after being diagnosed with advanced skin cancer which spread to his lungs, liver, spleen, bowel, lymph nodes and spine.

He was given just months to live and doctors told him there was little to no hope of a full recovery.

However, Adrian took part in clinical trials, and tests eventually showed he was in remission.

Fourteen years after his diagnosis, he is celebrating becoming a grandfather and the 61-year-old, who lives in Wombourne, has taken early retirement to help look after six-month-old grandson Teddy.

To celebrate the milestone, his son Josh has recreated an emotional video he made in 2015.

In the first video, Josh holds up cards that give the impression his dad did not make his 50th birthday but, in a final twist, Adrian walks into shot holding a sign that reads: “I’m still standing”.

It reached more than 65,000 people within an hour of being posted.

The new video, external follows the same format but, at the end, Adrian proudly walks in holding baby Teddy, with the card reading: “I’m still standing – and I’m a Grandad!”
