Man in lobster suit hunted over Alexandra Palace darts attack

Detectives are hunting a man who seriously injured another man, punching and knocking him unconscious following a World Darts Championship match in north London.

The victim, who is in his twenties, was assaulted outside Alexandra Palace on 13 December and is still suffering from “significant injuries” seven months later, police said.

The suspect is believed to have been among a group of men who attended the darts tournament dressed in lobster costumes.

The Met Police has released a CCTV image taken at the venue in the hope of tracing the man and jogging the memory of any witnesses.

The victim was leaving Alexandra Palace at about 16:30 GMT when he encountered the group of men in costume.

He became involved in an argument with them and they were separated by security staff.

Soon afterwards, the victim ran into the group again on the venue’s concourse and one of the men punched him, knocking him out.

He later reported the incident to the Met.

Det Con Lizzie Coster, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim in this case, and we hope the best for his recovery.

“This assault occurred outside at a major sporting event, and the suspect was wearing a distinctive costume.

“We are releasing a CCTV image of the suspect in the hope that it will jog the memory of attendees, or anyone else who was in the area at the time.”
