A 36-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was injured in an incident at a demolition site in Paisley.

Police, ambulance teams and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the site on Waverley Road at about 09:15 on Friday.

The Scottish Ambulance Service dispatched a trauma team and special operations team and took the man to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Police Scotland said an investigation was ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.

A police spokesperson added: “A cordon remains in place and the public should avoid the area.”
