Man charged over double stabbing in Ballinlough

A man in his 20s has been charged over a stabbing in Cork in which a woman was killed and a man injured.

Gardaí (Irish police) and emergency services were called to a house at Shrewsbury Downs in Ballinlough at about 21:00 (local time) on Monday.

A man, who is in his 60s, and a woman, who was in her 50s, were taken to Cork University Hospital where the woman was pronounced dead.

The man who has been charged is due to appear at Cork City District Court later.
