Man arrested over car murder bid on group of bikers

A 39-year-old man has been charged with attempting to murder a group of bikers after allegedly striking them with his car.

Police Scotland said the group were hit by a vehicle on Greenock Road, Bishopton, Renfrewshire, at about 13:30 on Sunday 11 July.

Emergency services attended but there were no serious injuries reported.

The same suspect has also been arrested and charged over a fire, which is alleged to have happened in Glasgow two months earlier.

On 12 May officers were called to a fire at a premises on Edison Street, Hillington.

There were no reports of injuries.

A force spokesperson said the 39-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with both incidents and was due to appear before Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

A 55-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the attempted murder and released pending further inquiries.
