A man has been arrested over the alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old boy at a campsite in the Highlands.

Police were told the boy was approached inside his tent at the Loch Ness Bay campsite in Drumnadrochit between 00:20 and 01:00 on 31 July.

The force said a 44-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the case and inquiries were still ongoing.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Det Supt Calum Smith said: “We would like to thank the local community for their support during our investigation, in particular local businesses and those who came forward with information.”
