Man arrested in connection with street attack death

Inquiries were ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the “isolated” incident.

Access to the shops on Burnbank Centre has been closed off and police have asked people to avoid the area.

Road closures on Whitehill Road and Purdie Street are expected to remain in place until after midday.

Limited access remains available for residents.

Supt Richard Taylor said: “We believe this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

“We have an increased police presence in the area as we understand this could be a very upsetting and worrying time for the local community.

“Anyone with concerns is asked to speak to these officers.”
