A man has been arrested after cannabis plants worth about £3.2m were discovered in a warehouse in Fife.

Officers found a cultivation in the Gateside Industrial Estate in Cowdenbeath at about 10:30 on Thursday.

Police Scotland said just under 2,000 plants were seized.

A 70-year-old man has been arrested in connection and released pending further inquiries.

Det Con Paul Scougall said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and Police Scotland is determined to disrupt the supply of illegal substances and trace those involved.

“This significant recovery underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.”
