A 30-year-old man has appeared in court in Newtownards charged in connection with the death of a teenager who died at the scene of a collision in Bangor.

Jaidyn Rice was 16 years old when she died after being hit by a car on the West Circular Road three weeks ago.

Jamie McCartney, whose address is the subject of a reporting restriction, is charged with causing the teenager’s death.

He faced three charges, causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst driving without a license and causing death whilst driving without insurance.

A Police officer told the court he could connect Mr McCartney with the crime.

The judge granted bail but warned Mr McCartney that he had to stick rigidly to the conditions imposed.
