Man appears in court charged with raping girl, 16, in Glasgow park

A man has appeared in court charged with the rape of a teenager at a park in Glasgow.

Hamid Wali is alleged to have pushed the 16-year-old into bushes at Springburn Park before attacking her on the evening of 26 June.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court the 36-year-old, who is from the city, made no plea to one charge of rape and two of threatening and abusive behaviour.

Wali was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again within the next eight days.
