Two people have suffered facial injuries after an “irritant” was thrown at them while they were sleeping rough in Scarborough, police said.
The man and woman were in the Ramshill Road area of the coastal town when they were targeted at about 02:30 BST on Wednesday.
North Yorkshire Police said the pair were taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be serious.
A woman has been arrested in connection with the attack, the force added, and remains in custody for questioning.
